Etihad Airways is the second largest air carrier of the United Arab Emirates. The airline was established in July 2003 by a royal decree issued by HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The group has minority investments in seven airlines: airberlin, Air Serbia, Air Seychelles, Alitalia.
